Fostering a Better Business Environment in China

Mission

Improve corporate anti-corruption regulations and compliance within Chinese companies, and foster a long-term dialogue on ethical compliance in China

Goals

The project aimed to to improve legal compliance within Chinese companies, make recommendations to improve compliance policy issued by governmental departments, and foster a sustained dialogue on ethics and complaince between these stakeholders.

Stakeholders

The project was lead by the Beijing New Century Academy on Transnational Corporations (NATC) with funding from the Siemens Integrity Initiative.

Activities

To foster dialogue between stakeholders, NATC established a ‘Compliance Executive Club’ including government officials and business executives. To address challenges in organisational compliance, NATCl published a guide for organisational compliance and held tailored training workshops to improve compliance results. For daily support and information, a compliance website containing a thorough database of compliance information was created. To improve compliance policy, NATC developed and presented research-based policy recommendations to the departments responsible for such policies.
